Why is my downloaded GIF not moving / not animated?

This usually happens when the GIF was saved as a static image. Make sure you're saving the file with a .gif extension, not .jpg or .png. On iPhone, GIFs may appear still in the Photos app but animate when shared. Some social media platforms also auto-convert GIFs to video format.
