What is the max file size?

Will the aspect ratio change?
Only if you set both width AND height. Set width-only (or height-only) and aspect is preserved automatically.
What dimensions for chat apps?
WhatsApp / Telegram render up to 480 px wide. Discord scales internally — 320 px is usually plenty.
Why does the resized GIF look soft?
Going up in size adds pixels that weren't in the source — that's resampling. Going down stays sharp because we use lanczos. Avoid upscaling beyond 1.5x.
Does animation still play after resize?
Yes — frames, timing, loop count are preserved. Only the dimensions change.
Will the file size shrink too?
Yes, almost always. Halving width drops file size to roughly a quarter.
What is the smallest size I can resize to?
We accept 16 px minimum. Mostly people resize to 100-800 px wide.
Does it work on phone and desktop?
Yes. Any modern browser. Encoding runs on GIFDB servers so your device doesn't do the heavy lifting.
Can I crop instead of resize?
Cropping isn't on this tool yet. For now, resize then crop in any image editor — or use our GIF Maker which has trim + crop together.
