How to download a Twitter or X video

1 Open the tweet

Go to twitter.com or x.com and find the tweet that contains the video, GIF, or media you want to save.

2 Copy the tweet link

Tap the share icon below the tweet and pick "Copy link to post". On desktop you can also right-click the timestamp and choose "Copy link".

3 Paste it on GIFDB

Drop the URL into the box at the top of this page and press Download. We hit Twitter's public video manifest and pull every available quality.

4 Pick a quality

HD, SD, audio-only, and the original — each option gets its own button so you can grab exactly what you need.

5 Save the file

The file downloads through our proxy, which means it lands in your Downloads folder rather than opening in a new tab. No app, no install.

What our Twitter video downloader supports

  • Single-video tweets — the most common case, MP4 in HD/SD
  • Multi-video tweets — pick any video in the carousel
  • GIF tweets — Twitter converts uploaded GIFs to MP4; we pull that MP4 (use MP4 to GIF to convert it back)
  • X.com URLs — same backend, both domains work interchangeably
  • Quote-tweet videos — paste the parent tweet URL
  • Threaded videos — every video in a thread gets its own download row
  • HD-only tweets — when only HD is available we surface that
  • Audio-only download — strip the video, save the audio track as M4A

Twitter Video Downloader FAQs

Is the GIFDB Twitter downloader free?

Yes — every download is free. No signup, no payment, no watermark, and no daily-limit on how many tweets you can save.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. The tool runs entirely in the browser. On iOS the file lands in Safari's Downloads list; on Android it goes to the Downloads folder. No app install needed.

What format do I get — MP4 or GIF?

Native Twitter videos download as MP4 in every available quality. GIF tweets download as MP4 too because Twitter converts every uploaded GIF to MP4 internally — drop that MP4 into our MP4 to GIF tool to convert it back.

Can I download videos from X.com?

Yes. Both twitter.com and x.com URLs work — same backend resolves them.

Why does the page ask me to paste the URL?

We don't take your Twitter login. We point yt-dlp (a public-tweet-only fetcher) at the URL you paste, parse Twitter's response, and surface the direct download links.

Can I download protected or private tweets?

No — protected accounts and deleted tweets aren't accessible without an authenticated session, and we deliberately don't support that.

Does the downloader add a watermark?

Never. We pipe the bytes through untouched. What Twitter served is what you save.

How do I convert a downloaded Twitter video to a GIF?

After saving the MP4, open our MP4 to GIF converter, drop the file in, pick start/end points and resolution, and download the GIF.

Are there download speed or file-size limits?

No limits from our side. Twitter's own video cap (typically 2–3 minutes / a few hundred MB) is the only practical ceiling.

Is downloading Twitter videos legal?

Saving public videos for personal use is fine. Re-uploading or rebroadcasting copyrighted content without the creator's permission is not — credit the original poster.
